The Naga

The Naga (tribes as warriors of Naga Land) land is the remote and mountainous land in Sagaing Division closed to the Indian border. Their customs and traditions are different from the mainland. They still preserve the age-old customs of their ancestors. They are proud people, and they love to live freely, roaming through the mountains, valleys and plain of their ancestral land. They are born to be hunters and considered themselves brave people. Their traditional rice wine called Khaung Ye is a staple item at any and all occasions.

Naga Ladies

In the old days Naga villages conducted raids on each other but now all live in peace. The Naga New Year Festival is held annually on January 15 and rotates among the three principal cities in the Naga Hills. Many Naga tribes walk for days to participate at this annual event.
