BhamoBhamo a small trading town south of Myitkyina is on the 800km long Ledo Road or the Stillwell from Ledo in Assam via Bhamo to China’s Yunnan province that was constructed in World War ll. The daily market at Bhamo draws Lisu, Kachin and Shan visitors living around that area. The old walls of Sampanago, an old Shan Kingdom is still to be seen. Ayeyarwaddy Dolphin(Orcaella breverostris), a rare species that can be found in Ayeyarwaddy and Mekong Rivers on the boat trip down to Mandalay. The 2nd Defile (gorge) is near Sin-khan village where a sheer smooth cliff face, named by the local people as “Angel Face” because of its smoothness, towers above the river. The river cruise will pass by Shwegu, Katha, Kyaukmyaung; a noted place where the pottery works are situated and to Mandalay.
