Kachin State
The Northern part of Myanmar is famous for its snowy mountain range stretches out from the range of Himalayas to the East into Northern Myanmar. On the Northern edge lies the highest peak called Khakaborazi about 5669 meters high. Many of the wild life are sheltering around Khakaborazi region. The whole region is 915 meters above sea level and covered with snow, and cold year round from -3 C to 30 C. The closest range to Khakaborazi is Thalihtu village about 28 days trek from Putao. This area is famous for its Nature of originated Flora, especially various kinds of rare orchids and such as Black orchids can be found in this area. Fauna as Teak, Alpine and many valuable trees and plants are originated in this area. Trees such as different colors of Rhododendrons, Maple trees and various kinds of Bamboos are also seen in this area. Wild life such as Taken, Red Panda, Black Bear, Black Deer, Blue sheep, Red Goral, Mask Deer, Leaf Dear as small as tree leaf are sheltering around Khakaborazi. Birds species of Tragopan, Partridge, Blood pheasant, Nuthatch, fly catcher, warbler, laughing thrush are also sheltering and Butterflies known as an endangered species of Kaiser, Apollo, Bhutan, Glory and Bird wing can also be explored in this region. January to April is the best time to observe the nature and wildlife in this Remote Northern snowy mountain region.
Putao, is the last city on the North of Kachin State. This small city is surrounded with snow peaked mountains with spine chilling cold around the year. The ethnic tribes are living in forested area on this high land around Putao. Living on rice cultivations and plantations of citrus fruits on the plain of mountains can explore only by trekking up and down the mountainous land. Many expeditions and explorations are all start from Putao.
Naga Land
Tribal Naga land
The Naga people live in Sagaing Division, North-West of Myanmar near Indian Border. The major towns are Khamti, LayShe, Lahe and NanYun between Indian border and Kachin State known as Sagaing Division. The snow-capped Mt. Sarameti in the mountainous land of the Naga Tribes is 3828 metres high.
The Majority Clan
The name Naga embraces a number of Indo Mongoloid tribes who speak a different Tibeto-Burmese Language. The derivation of the name is not very clear, but it is believed to have come from the Sanskrit word Naga, meaning mountain and in form Naga comes from the word Nok which means people in some Tibeto- Burmese language. The majority tribe is Naga and there are about 64 different minority clans of Naga tribes living in groups for centuries on the mountainous region.
Chin Hills (Spider tattooed face Chin)
TATTOOED CHIN TRIBES; There are three different tribal Chin clans on the Southern part of Chin region, known as Chinbon, Chinbok and Layhtoo Chin with three different kinds of facial tattoos. This tattooing tradition started since over thousand years ago, the men from neighboring found of pretty chin ladies and captured for slavery and wife. So the Chin tribes started tattooing the girl's face to protect from intruders for slavery. Tattooing the ladies nowadays becomes traditions of the Chin tribes on the Northern part of Chin mountain ranges that stretches down to the South near Mrauk-U Rakhine state.
Mt Victoria: One of the highest Mountains is Mt Victoria on the Southern part of the Chin region at the height of 3054 meters. This mountain is easily accessible from Bagan via Kanpetlet or Mindat by 4 wheel drive car and climb up to 13 mile camp at the height of 2439 meters. Then trekking continues conveniently to the mountaintop along the plain slope. The Tribal Chin villages where the Chin ladies with tattooed faces are living around the foot hill of Mt Victoria in Mindat and Kanpetlet.
Colorful Tribes In Shan State
Northern Shan hills ( Kyaing Tong )
There are about 135 ethnic tribes in Myanmar. On the Northern part of Shan State is the nature of mountainous land and the people living in those area are of various ethnic tribes. They can only distinguish from one another by their dress and language. In general, each tribe occupies a different niche, either geographically or in traditional as a whole. Most of the colorful tribes can be explored in the Northern part of Shan state, around Kuaomg Tong, the city of scenic beauty and various colorful ethnic tribes. Places of interest around Kuaomg Tong are the Spa, Naung Tong Lake and waterfall, Sunn Taung Monastery, Central market, Traditional Lacquerware works and hand-weaving factory. The greatest attractions in tradition are their colorful dresses and clothes, ornamentation and decoration, embroidery, Jewelry and their craft works on silver and jewels.
There are many villages on the hilly region around Kuaomg Tong known as Lahu, Lisu, Lishaw, Myo, Wa, Pa-o, Palaung, Akha and Shan to explore by trekking up and down the hilly region. The most favorite tribe around Kuaomg Tong area is Akha hill tribes. The women wore thick short skirts and long-sleeved jackets of traditional home weaving indigo cotton. Their dresses are completely covered down to knee-length leggings, as the weather is cold and icy year round. The costumes ornamented with colorful dangling beads and silver coins. Fabulous headdress are also thick woven cotton and ornamented with silver coins and beads dangling on the head.
Southern Shan State ( Taunggyi )
Most of the travelers like to visit Taunggyi, Inle, Pindaya and Kalaw and explore the culture and nature of Shan ethnic tribes on the mountains by means of trekking up and down the plain slopes. The region with fertile soil of different colors plotted on the hilly regions of plantation. Shan Palaung, Pa-o and long neck Padaung tribes can be observed in this Southern Shan State.
The scenery and views are of its nature and the farmers working on the fields are the most beautiful nature of life for the visitors. With the taste of these experiences the demand from the visitors to include trekking is increasing year by year. Most of the trekking starts from Kalaw to Pindaya, Kalaw to Inle, Pindaya to Inle Hot spa, Taunggyi to Kyauk Ta Lone, (Kukku) and from Inle to Saga village. Trekking experiences are the only witness for the travelers for which they can make close observation on culture and nature of the various tribes living on the mountainous land.
